* 1973 - Union picketed Northland IGA. IFRA members came from across the
state to keep the store open.
* 1977 - Facing 30% rate increases and evidence of insurability
restrictions, IFRA creates a 1200 employee self-funded health trust.
* 1981 - Became a founding business source for Great Midwest Insurance
Company providing property and casualty coverage for retail grocers.
* 1995 - Dropped membership restrictions for participation with Nash-Finch
to appeal to more Independents.
* 1999 - Changed our name to encourage out of state membership.
